They were elected to create jobs and get the economy going and wasting time and effort on that will not do any good. He keeps saying that is what the American people want, and it's absolutely insulting because I want National Health Care and I want them to fix the economy, doesn't sound like what he's saying. I hate hearing that people want to work towards the "greater good" but they don't carry it out. I'm tired of being fed "lip service." Actions speak louder than words and the Republican party in my mind, is only about the rich and don't want to help anyone else. Democrats are pushovers and don't carry things out because they are working too hard to make the Republicans agree, which they won't. People seem to be getting the feeling and are starting small groups. No not like the tea party, they are corporation bought and paid for, I mean real grassroots, people meeting at each other's homes, weeing how they can help one another and the less fortunate. Look at the newspapers and media coverage about those helping others!!! One of the greatest part about this new "movement" is 1)throw the bums out is the main topic of discussion 2) the Greater good is paramount and 3)a resurgence of faith, hope and character is rising up. See if there any of these groups in your area that you can help. There shouldn't be an overriding government entity telling me what I can and cannot do to myself. I'm a firm believer that if someone wants to put drugs in their body then let them do it, because it's their own body.

I feel this way about a woman and abortion. I personally feel, as a man, that I should have some suggestions in the matter but ultimately, it's the woman's body and her decision.

I'm a firm believer in this because, let's say, a woman gets raped and is pregnant because of it. We are forcing that woman to bring a child into this world that was not made out of love, it was made out of hate, and it will forever be a bad mark in the woman's life, at least in her mind. Another thing that you have to consider is that his new child is now, more than likely, going to have mental problems, and could possibly become a burden for American's, ie adoption, prison, etc.

I also don't believe that a fetus has the same rights as a person who is a part of society already. A Fetus cannot live on it's own. Neither can an infant but we're not talking apples to apples with that discussion. You are talking about an already formed baby that is outside of the body, not in a body and growing day by day.

I know that there are several more things that I could write but that's how I feel at this point with my knowledge.

I do want to say that I'm not for abortion as a form of birth control, though. That to me is just careless.

I will chat about the other topics later when I have more time.
JPJPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12615033833208994109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003822122205626154.post-70572946679431768112010-04-28T18:23:07.759-07:002010-04-28T18:23:07.759-07:00I read this article that you were speaking of and ...I read this article that you were speaking of and it's depressing, yet, realistic. Our country is bankrupt and it would only take a little for China to bring us down. In my honest opinion, this is bound to happen with the Free Market System. Money corrupts, and clouds the judgment of people. They stop looking at what's in the best interest of the country and start looking at the best interest of themselves and their buddies.

I'm not sure that allowing the States to move away from the US is a good decision either, though. Mainly, because we will have the same issue just on a smaller scale. In my mind, the only way to keep the rich people in check is to make sure that the whole nation can have a vote of "no confidence" with Senator's, President's, Congressman and so on. That in my mind would help keep them straight. But then again, they would probably find some loop hole. The outlook for the US doesn't look good in my mind, and it's sad.JPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12615033833208994109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003822122205626154.post-15053512808156352712010-03-23T09:51:14.500-07:002010-03-23T09:51:14.500-07:00No, and in fact, I believe that his example of ten...No, and in fact, I believe that his example of tenacity is exactly what America needs to see again. To get your point across, you need to have your facts straight, by either listening to an un-biased account by NPR, or reading an un-biased account from Christian Science Monitor, or to the furthest extreme, watch Fox News and/or MSNBC news and select out the parts that make the most sense(which is the most difficult way) It is a never-ending process. One other fact: you need to have faith in your sources, that is why you continually listen/read the sources that you have selected as being worthy of your interest. That's what keeps those little brain synapses electrified. Very astute observations.Tom Prestonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03311100573796492158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003822122205626154.post-72707231212560197802010-03-19T14:40:46.536-07:002010-03-19T14:40:46.536-07:00I agree with your blog here. As someone who tries to continually be in the loop on items, I get very irritated when I have a person who is arguing over something without knowing the facts. When they are arguing over something without having done any previous research it totally discredit's their statements because they are unfounded and considered to be ridiculous.

Listening is a huge part of being a good person and also shows respect to the other person.

I've also found that as I've gotten older I've made myself be more aware. Listening to NPR on a daily basis is a great way to keep up on things and they seem to be fairly bias.

That's the tough part, is finding a place that is bias enough to get all sides of the issue at hand. Not some one sided argument. Like the kind that you would receive at Fox News Corp, or MSNBC.JPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12615033833208994109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003822122205626154.post-42885019951246415722010-03-18T22:30:21.610-07:002010-03-18T22:30:21.610-07:00Thank you for your comment. You are right, the older you get, the more secure you become in your values because you have had an opportunity to use them and have action that substantiated your choice. The next time the situation comes up, you become more ready to hear more sides. You have built your frame of reference with the value within and are shoring it up with new data. If the new data tears down what is within your frame of reference you investigate why and perhaps widen your frame of reference with the new data. It is a life-long search. The keys are several; 1) You can not be so set in your values that you can not take a new hit, 2) You can not be so set in your ways that you start "telling" other people that your way is the only way and dismissing people because they do not take your explanation that you think your evaluation of the situation is the best and "only" way.
The voting process is a search for the Greater Good. What will work best for the greater population, not special interest groups, or politicians. That is where the American population is at right now. They are fed up with all incumbents in Congress. The people sent their politicans to write legislation that would help everyone. What has been going on in Congress is a Republican party that has no interest in sharing "their ideas" to be put into a Democratically passed piece of reform legislation, they have become the party of "No". Democrats are the majority party that was elected to insure this legislation is passed and what the people have found that the Democrats are so interested in their own little areas they want passed, or political power, they have held up passage of the Health Reform Bill. The American people are going to send them all out this coming election.
President Obama has gone out of his way on two separate occasions to invite Republicans to add their ideas to the Health Care Legislation, but has been rebuked each time. Now, the Democrats are taking the bull by the horns and getting the bill passed.Tom Prestonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03311100573796492158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003822122205626154.post-72124341547089228592010-03-18T09:24:02.539-07:002010-03-18T09:24:02.539-07:00As I get older I find more and more the need to be...As I get older I find more and more the need to be open-minded about everything, in great part because as I get older I tend to become more set in my ways!
